The Series 70
Short Catch Overshot is an external fishing tool specially engineered for
retrieving tubular fish when the exposed top of the fish is too short for
conventional overshot engagement. The tool utilizes a unique internal
configuration where the Basket Grapple Control is positioned above the Basket
Grapple, allowing the grapple to occupy the lowest possible position inside the
bowl.
This design
enables the overshot to securely engage and retrieve short fish efficiently
during difficult downhole fishing operations.
The Series 70 Overshot assembly consists of:
- Top Sub
- Bowl
- Basket
Grapple Control
- Basket
Grapple
Although the
tool does not include a guide assembly, its operating principle is similar to
the standard Series 150 Releasing and Circulating Overshot.
During fishing
operations, the overshot is rotated slowly to the right while being lowered
over the fish. Once the fish enters the expandable grapple system, upward pull
is applied to securely capture the fish. For releasing operations, a downward
bump force is applied to release the grapple grip before rotating and lifting
the tool from the fish.
Manufactured
using high-strength alloy materials and precision machining, GREAT Series 70
Overshots provide reliable performance, operational flexibility, and durable
service life in demanding fishing environments.
